I had the tremendous honor to teach photography at my first alma mater, Neue Schule für Fotografie Berlin.
I started in 2021 with “web design for photographers”: using WordPress practically, but also the theory of file handling and web presentation, as well as internet gotchas. I was especially proud of my crash course on dpi.
Later I got the develop a course on “Experimental Photography”, where I invited students to look beyond documentary, portrait or fashion; and I regularly presented alternative technologies, like scanography, lightfield photography, stereography, slit scanning and photogrammetry.
I got my students to graduation, always with the help of my dear colleague Eva Bertram.
Finally, I helped to close the school in 2023 when the multiple crises overwhelmed us. I will be forever grateful to the students for trusting us.
It is almost three years later now, as I write this, and I still feel melancholy. I can not be exhaustive, instead some impressions.
